My Background
I specialize in working with older adolescents (ages 16+) and adults who are struggling with disordered eating, body image issues, difficulty regulating their emotions, and general life stressors and challenges
I have received extensive training in delivering evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and problems related to emotion regulation. My journey includes a doctoral practicum, predoctoral internship, postdoctoral fellowship, and my first staff psychologist position, all of which focused on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and/or treating eating disorders. My Master’s and doctoral research specifically examined risk factors for eating disorders. Please feel free to ask for more details about my education and training history—I’m always happy to share!
Though my formal training started in 2016, my passion for combating diet culture and weight stigma has deep roots that go back to high school. Over the years, I’ve witnessed the lasting harm caused by fatphobia and seen firsthand how much healing, peace, and joy can come from aligning our eating, movement, and self-care with our values. As someone in a larger body, I have personally practiced the skills and techniques I teach my clients. My therapy is rooted in Health at Every Size (HAES) and anti-diet principles, which I live by both personally and professionally.
In addition to my work with eating and body image, I’m passionate about helping clients manage their emotions, navigate interpersonal challenges, and work toward their life goals. Throughout my training, I discovered DBT, which has been transformative for me both as a therapist and as a person. I’m deeply committed to helping others learn how to feel, manage, and understand their emotions in a way that leads to a life worth living.
